What do employers have to offer today?

Flexibility & Work Life Balance

What do employees expect today - and how can we meet these needs?

The world of work is changing rapidly: digitalization, demographic change and new generations are changing expectations. While baby boomers are slowly retiring, millennials and Gen Z are increasingly shaping the job market.

Different generations on the labor market

Gen Z and millennials place more value on work-life balance than previous generations (see e.g. Deloitte Gen Z & Millennial Survey 2025). Issues such as work-life balance are central: employees want to advance their careers and at the same time face the challenge of how to reconcile family and career. Around 85% of millennials are intensively concerned with this topic.

High willingness to switch

Generations Y and Z are also much more willing to change jobs if their own requirements (including flexibility, mental stress, etc.) are not met by their employer.

What does this mean for us as employers?

"Since joining OMS Retail, I've been actively helping to shape our corporate culture. Studies and trends provide great guidance—but ultimately, it's about finding real solutions that work for our industry and our employees.

We don’t believe in a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach, but rather in honest, transparent communication: We show what we stand for—and in doing so, we attract the people who are a good fit for us and who identify with our values, our way of working, and our culture."

Csaba thinks:

Team culture and communication are the foundation

“What defines our culture is a strong team where everyone knows and supports one another and shows understanding for personal challenges. We foster close communication among team members and across management levels. In monthly one-on-one check-ins between managers and employees, we not only set clear development goals but also make room for personal issues. We take a very employee-oriented approach and aim to find individual solutions for every situation. Communication, trust, and dialogue are simply super important.”
