Dual study program Business Administration Retail Management
The perfect mix of theory and practice
During your dual study program in Business Administration - Retail Management , you will alternate between theoretical phases at the DHBW Heilbronn and practical phases at OMS Retail in Garbsen (Hanover area) every three months. During the practical phases, you will pass through various departments that play a role in retail management in order to get to know the holistic processes within our organization. These include departments such as HR, Marketing and Sales. Later, you will specialize in the area that particularly interests you and is interesting for your professional future, even beyond your studies.

Telephone interview
The first step is to invite you to a short telephone interview (approx. 30 minutes). There you can ask all your questions about the dual study program at OMS Retail and we have the chance to find out more about you and your motivation.
Talk about Microsoft Teams
In the second step, we will meet via Microsoft Teams for an online interview. Here you will find out even more about the course of your dual studies and the content, and in addition to our recruiter, you will also get to know your study supervisor, Nina-Christin Gebken, who will be your first point of contact for all organizational matters throughout your studies with us. A current dual student will also be there to give you first-hand experience!
Get to know us personally in our office
If we both have a good feeling and want to go further in the application process, we will invite you to our office in Garbsen to meet us in person. This will give you the chance to see how we work and get to know the team and your future colleagues.

- Attractive remuneration: €1,300 in the 1st year, €1,500 in the 2nd year and €1,800 in the 3rd year. We also cover your tuition fees.

What is the dual study program like?
The dual study program at OMS Retail is divided into practical and theoretical phases, which alternate in a 3-month cycle. You will spend the practical phases with us, OMS Retail GmbH, on site in Garbsen and work in a department in each practical phase, including Sales, Marketing or HR. Your theoretical phases will take place at our partner university, DHBW Heilbronn. There you will learn subjects such as business administration, marketing, statistics and finance. How much money do you get on a dual study program?
The remuneration for the dual study program is staggered as follows:
- 1st year: €1,300
- 2nd year: €1,500
- 3rd year: €1,800
We also pay all your tuition fees.
How much vacation do you get on a dual study program?
During the dual study program, you have an annual vacation entitlement of 20 days per year. You only take these during your practical phases at the company.
How often do you work during the dual study program?
You alternate between 3-month practical and theoretical phases during your studies. The course lasts a total of 3 years (6 semesters). This means you have a total of 6 practical phases of 3 months each. During the practical phases, you will work full-time with us for 40 hours per week.
What do you do in a dual study program?
At OMS Retail, we offer a dual study program in Business Administration - Retail Management. This course will provide you with in-depth knowledge of business administration. It also focuses on topics such as retail marketing, finance, human resources management and leadership. The course concludes with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. You will learn to apply the relevant skills in practice alongside the theoretical phases.
What grade point average do you need for a dual study program?
First and foremost, the entire application process is not about assessing you on the basis of a single key figure. We want to find out whether you could be a good fit from a personal and professional perspective! A good average grade helps and we also look at your individual grades, especially in math, German, English or business. But we are also interested in your general demeanor, your interest in the subject matter and who you are as a person. This is the only way we can get a holistic picture of whether you could fit into the OMS Retail team.
What are my chances of being taken on after graduation?
Our aim is to work with you in the long term and beyond the dual study program and to take you on in one of our departments after your studies.

For the winter semester 2026/2027, we are exclusively looking for dual students for the Business Administration Retail Management course.
How do I find accommodation during my theory phase?
We understand that it may seem challenging at first to find suitable accommodation during the 3-month rotation between Garbsen and Heilbronn. However, the advantage is that many dual students have an anti-cyclical course of their studies and are in their practical phases exactly when you are going through your theoretical phase. For example, there are WhatsApp groups in which the dual students can exchange and coordinate information so that the changes are perfectly coordinated. There are also several furnished student residences in Heilbronn and the surrounding area.
